Recover Lost Data from DiskPart Clean & DiskPart Format
Diskpart is a Windows built-in command-line partitioning utility. It allows you to manage storage devices, partitions, and volumes. You can create, delete, resize or combine partitions, as well as assign or change drive letters.
To start the diskpart.exe, click on the Start button and choose “Run”. Type “cmd” and press “OK”. Type “diskpart” and press “Enter”. When “DISKPART>” appears in the window, you need to type “list disk” and then press “Enter”, then all the connected disks will be listed out in order.
There are 38 DiskPart commands. DiskPart format formats the volume or partition. FS=<FS> specifies the type of file system. If no file system is given, the default file system displayed by the FILESYSTEMS command is used. REVISION = <X.XX> specifies the file system revision (if applicable). If Quick is specified, it will perform a quick format. For example, format FS=NTFS LABEL=”LOCAL DISK’ QUICK will quick format the chosen hard drive to NTFS filesystem with the label “LOCAL DISK”.
DiskPart clean removes any and all partition or volume formatting from the disk with focus. On master boot record (MBR) disks, only the MBR partitioning information and hidden sector information are overwritten. On GUID partition table (GPT) disks, the GPT partitioning information, including the Protective MBR, is overwritten; there is no hidden sector information.
If you’re not so sure about using DISKPART commands, we don’t suggest you experiment with it because any improper handling with the partitions or drives will cause serious data loss. However, if you do have data loss problems due to DiskPart clean or format, you can try to rescue these data by using professional data recovery software.
